Te Ivi Maori
The lady on the right is my boss. We all call her Auntie Mary and she runs our dance group which was also created by her late husband, Mi'i Tekopua.
In this group, both boys and girls express their passion for the love of the dance and the drums. This number is called Pomai.
None of us in the group have any roots that trace back to Polynesia, but we still love to dance as if we did.
All the girls that come and join immediately create a bond and become family through the help of sharing the same passion.
Our group performs every night for dinner shows and we entertain tourists.
This is Joe. He is the only boy that dances EVERY SINGLE NIGHT.
Our group also performs fire poi which traces back to the Maori people of New Zealand.
And of course, whenever we are on stage, we always put a smile on our face.
I really love these photos and how you get to share your experience of dancing with us. You made us enter a part of your life that you enjoy the most :)
